Outstanding Chapter of the Year 2007
| The Mid-South Chapter of AANN received the Outstanding Chapter of the Year Award at AANN’s 40th Annual Educational Meeting. Despite being active for just 1 year, the Mid-South Chapter offered nearly 12 hours of continuing education opportunities through relationships with area hospitals and practitioners, held five educational meetings and eight planning meetings, promoted and endorsed the CNRN credential, won the chapter logo contest, and held a Community Stroke Awareness Night with a guest AANN keynote speaker and 125 attendees. “We have accomplished many things this last year but the most important is helping light a passion for neuroscience education,” said Chapter President Kathy Bomar. |
 |
The chapter added 30 new members and welcomes participants from Memphis (TN), Mississippi, and Arkansas. Bomar credits the diverse and vital local community for the quality of the chapter. “Part of excellence is found not only in achieving but in assisting others to grow. Although we encourage membership in our chapter, we have not yet turned away any nonmembers who wanted to learn more,” Bomar explained. “We have developed into a diverse group, all interested in providing excellent care of neuroscience patients. We have found strength in our diversity.” The commitment, enthusiasm, and vigor with which the Mid-South Chapter accomplished these goals makes them an ideal recipient of the Outstanding Chapter of the Year Award and a steward of AANN’s vibrant local and regional neuroscience nursing communities.
