Neuroscience Nursing Foundation Silent Auction Was a Resounding Success
Unprecedented participation by the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) chapters and special focus groups (SFGs), as well as the AANN, NNF, and World Federation of Neuroscience Nurses (WFNN) Boards, made it a benchmark year for the NNF Silent Auction as 40 baskets were contributed to celebrate AANN’s 40th year. More than $3,300 was raised to directly benefit neuroscience nurses through grants, scholarships, travel, and recertification, and it was all done with everyone having a fun time. The Philadelphia Chapter took home the prize for raising the most money on the sale of their basket. Close behind were the Dallas, Eastern Pennsylvania, Greater Sacramento, Orange County, and Tampa Bay chapters, as well as the Pediatric SFG. Notably, the basket display in the exhibit hall became a central point for meeting colleagues. In recognition of everyone’s fine efforts, NNF wants to thank the participating chapters, SFGs, and boards for making 2008 a banner year. Thank you! Among the many memorable moments at the 2008 AANN Annual Educational Meeting in Nashville, TN, were the following events that stood out for the Neuroscience Nursing Foundation.

Step–step–grapevine–stomp–clap. So went some of the dance moves taught at the NNF line-dancing reception and fundraiser in support of neuroscience nurse scholarship, research, and certification/recertification. The sold-out room of energetic line dancers raised more than $3,000.

| The NNF Silent Auction area is always a popular stop on the exhibit hall floor. This year a phenomenal response by the AANN chapters, SFGs, and individual members raised more than enough to fund two travel grants for next year. NNF sincerely thanks those who responded with baskets and challenges every chapter and SFG to be represented next year in Las Vegas. |
