Connecting with Neuroscience Colleagues Across the Border
Cathy Cartwright, MSN RN PCNS, AANN President-Elect
| The Canadian Association of Neuroscience Nurses (CANN) held its 39th Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions June 17–20, in beautiful Victoria, BC. The theme “Synapse in the City: Making the Connection” was quite appropriate as neuroscience nurses from across Canada and beyond connected with both old and new friends while sharing knowledge and expertise. Posters and oral presentations covered many neuroscience topics, such as ethical issues, evidence-based interventions, and current research. Interestingly, neuroscience physicians held their meeting at the same time in a nearby hotel and invited the nurses to attend their scientific sessions and exhibitor reception. |
 |
| I was fortunate to have the opportunity to represent AANN at the CANN meeting and bring greetings from our organization. CANN President Debra Beveridge, who attended our meeting in Nashville, was a gracious hostess. The Canadian nurses are a friendly group and made a special effort to include me in their activities. When I invited them to attend our annual meeting March 28–31, 2009, in Las Vegas, I received an enthusiastic response. I look forward to collaborating with the nurses from CANN and greeting them in Las Vegas! |
