Scope of Practice and Standards for Neuroscience Advanced Practice Nurses
As advanced practice nursing has evolved, so have the challenges associated with defining practice. In 2006, the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) convened a task force to develop the Scope of Practice and Standards for Neuroscience Advanced Practice Nursing to be built upon the Scope and Standards of Neuroscience Nursing. Initial work included a literature review, survey of practicing APNs, and comparative analysis of other nursing scope and standard products. The results of this survey were shared with AANN members.
Subsequent task force work led to the development of a draft document, which is included below. As any scope and standards document is developed, it is essential to obtain feedback before production. As you are the ones who will be using the document as a framework, you are invited to critique the document and submit feedback by following the survey link below. Your feedback is appreciated.
