AANN Looks Ahead to the New Year
With the holidays behind us and the cold temperatures and long nights upon us, it is time to think about spring, when longer sunny days and new foliage and growth will become apparent everyday. It is also the time for change—our new government leaders will take office and are already rolling up their sleeves to work on fresh ideas and toward new goals.

AANN also begins the new year with a new slate of officers, who are full of new ideas brought forth from you, the members. We also have a newly developed strategic plan with many exciting opportunities for the association. One of the exciting opportunities for you on the horizon is the chance to continue advancing your knowledge as neuroscience nurses through access to on-demand educational resources and information. Our current and future educational products, such as the journal with its CE offerings, will be offered on demand. We are also exploring the possibility of offering some Web castings from the annual meeting so more members can take advantage of the knowledge and networking opportunities, which reenergize us each year. I am very excited about the upcoming annual meeting because some new changes will be implemented based on your feedback. For the first time, we will have a preconference session specifically targeting the advanced practice nurse. The hands-on session will be sponsored by the APN LISTSERV® and will focus on ventricular shunt tapping. We are hoping that such sessions for our advanced practice nurses will continue to be an annual offering and grow in number each year. Based on your feedback regarding last year's meeting, we will again hold the members' breakfast on Monday morning so you can communicate with your leadership and provide feedback to help guide the organization. Another exciting change is that Monday evening will be a free evening in Las Vegas for all of you to paint the town and have some fun. Remember—what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!
I am looking forward to seeing many of you in Las Vegas, where our theme will be "Leadership and Community: Investing Today in the Neuroscience Nurse of Tomorrow." I'm excited for the wonderful networking, dynamic speakers, informative and thought-provoking posters, and, most of all, the opportunity to listen to you and gain further insight into how AANN can continue to set the course for neuroscience nursing.
