Chapter Activities

The Mid-South Chapter had a busy, productive Spring. In March, David F. Clarke, MD, assistant professor at the University of Tennessee Department of Neurology and Pediatrics and codirector of Neurophysiology, presented "Pre-Surgical Evaluation in Young Children with Epilepsy: The Use of Functional Imaging," and in May, Robin L. Morgan, MD, assistant professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, presented "Tic and Movement Disorders." Most recently, in June, RexAnn G. Pickering, PhD CIP RN, administrator of Human Protection at Methodist Healthcare in Memphis, discussed "Nursing Research for the Ortho-Neuro Bedside Nurse." The Mid-South Chapter has also recently launched a new Web site, www.aannmidsouthchapter.homestead.com, and welcomes everyone to visit.
The Arizona Chapter will hold its next quarterly meeting on Thursday, August 20, at 6 pm at the Capital Grill in the Biltmore Shopping Center at 2502 E. Camelback Rd. A lecture given by Dr. Sirven will focus on innovative epilepsy treatments. Please RSVP to tammy.tyree@bannerhealth.com if you can attend.
There will be a 3-month CNRN review class at Barrow Neurological Institute beginning August 12. This is a comprehensive, once-a-week class—offered at three different times during the week to fit your schedule—focusing on neuroscience to prepare nurses for the national CNRN exam. If you are interested in this course, please contact Mary King at 602/406-3515 or 602/746-0031 (page), Virginia Prendergast at 602/406-3082 or 602/746-0099 (page), Terry Bachman at 602/406-4763 or 602/746-0061 (page), or Madona Plueger at 602/406-5138 or 602/746-0808 (page).
There will also be a 2-day CNRN review class hosted by Scottsdale Shea and sponsored by Integra Clinical Education Institute, Inc. The classes will be held on September 21 and 22. For more information and to register for the classes, please visit www.integra-education.org.
The Peachtree Chapter is hosting a CNRN review course the weekend of August 1–2, 2009, at the WellStar Windy Hill Development Center off Windy Hill Rd. in Atlanta. Contact Suzanne Mays (chapter president) at suzannemays@registerednurses.com for more information.
