AANN's 41st Annual Educational Meeting Really Hit the JACKPOT!
This year's annual educational meeting, Leadership and Community: Investing Today in the Neuroscience Nursing of Tomorrow, was a real winner—and everyone who attended came home richer than they ever dreamed. Whether it was hearing Leean Hendrix's compelling personal account of her struggle after surviving a stroke, learning about telemarketing and stroke care, or viewing more than 60 poster presentations, the meeting touched on winning topics that enriched every attendee. Back again this year was the AANN membership breakfast meeting. More than 300 members attended the event and listened as President Kathy Baker and the 2008–2009 Board of Directors shared highlights from the financial and strategic initiatives outlined in the 2008 Annual Report. Following the presentations, Baker asked attendees to discuss what AANN should do in 2009 and 2010 to achieve the following goals:
- Gateway to Knowledge (education)
- Neuroscience Expertise (influence/partnerships)
- Volunteer Engagement (membership)
AANN members seated at the breakfast tables had the opportunity to give their suggestions and ideas for moving their organization forward. These findings have been shared with the board and will be published in the next issue of Synapse E-News.
Missed the meeting this year? Don't miss out in 2010. Save the date for AANN's 42nd Annual Educational Meeting, Neuroscience Nursing: Passion for the Profession, March 20–23, 2010, in Baltimore, MD.
