The Guide to the Care of the Hospitalized Patient with Ischemic Stroke is designed to assist registered nurses, patient-care units, and institutions in providing safe and effective care to hospitalized patients with ischemic stroke. The goal of the guideline is to provide background on the impact, etiology, pathophysiology, assessment, monitoring, and treatment of ischemic stroke. Implications for initial and ongoing nursing assessment and management of the hospitalized patient with ischemic stroke also are discussed. The guideline translates the latest research into an easy-to-use reference and provides nurses with a tool to help them deliver optimum-quality, patient-focused care for this patient population.

Spinal Cord Anatomy DVD
The Spinal Cord Anatomy DVD, from Adventures in Neuroscience, covers the anatomy of the spine and spinal cord. Cadaver specimens are used to demonstrate structures in the spinal cord and the discussion centers on normal and abnormal findings. Detailed explanations of potential injuries, spinal cord syndromes and patient assessment completes the lesson which runs for just under two hours. A sound knowledge of spine and spinal cord anatomy is the foundation for the bedside professional who cares for neuro patients with spine disease. This DVD offers a comprehensive review of the normal structures and pathways of the spine, spinal cord and supporting coverings. Potential pathologies and disease entities will also be identified as we examine each area.
